|
|
Greetings gentlemen, I'm in need of some help.
Let me start by saying what a kick arse site you have here. I stumbled across it while desperately searching for help information for my Logitech Z-5500 Digital.
I'll try to make this brief:
I received my speakers about a week ago and experienced very high quality, if a little static ridden sound quality. Three days ago however I turned my computer on, started up a few PC Games and found that all sound from my 5.1 speakers was coming from my left speakers, front and rear.
Here is what I have done to address the issue:
I swapped out cords and speakers. No matter what speaker/cord combination is used sound only comes from the left speakers.
Unplugged everything but the right front/rear speakers. When this happens a faint amount of sound can be heard coming from the subwoofer itself.
Entered my control panel Sounds and Audio Devices Properties and Adjusted the Speaker Volume Balance under Speaker Settings. Interestingly whether I adjust Right or Left volume, it ONLY affects the left speakers. If I mute right volume, the left speaker mutes. No affect on the right speakers.
While still under Audio Properties clicked on Advanced and adjusted the balance all the way to the right on the Volume settings for Play Control. This had no affect whatsoever.
I am using Logitech Z-5500 Digital Speakers now less than ten days old.
Audigy 2 sound card
Windows XP Home.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated! |

Damn. This was supposed to go in the Logitech Z-5500 forum. Mea Culpa.
I'll try to keep the noobishness to a minimum from this point onwards.. |

To test your sound card, put a standard 2 channel speaker system and test the front and the rear soundcard jacks to see if they are getting sound first. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Greetings,
I have almost exactly the same problem. The only difference is only my right front speaker is dead, and I've only had it for a grand total of one day.
To elaborate, I'm using WinXP Home SP2, Audigy2 ZS sound card, and the Logitech Z5500.
The things I tried pretty much mirrored the OP's, except that music seems to run fine with WinAmp and Media Player, so I'm not sure whether the problem is with the soundcard, the speakers, or a combination of the two.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
@ [TN]Nathan: I tried putting my old speakers back on (Boston Acoustics BA635 2.1), and the sound worked fine. I'm strongly leaning towards conflict between soundcard and speaker now, but other than that, I'm at a loss. |

Return the system.
The soundcard cannot detect what speakers you have.
You have a defective system. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Thanks, [TN]Nathan.
I've been browsing the Logitech support forums and it looks like other people have experienced the same problem (dead speakers w/ Creative sound cards, music and movies play fine). Unfortunately, those forums are pretty dead as far as answers are concerned. Guess I'll try to make the local Logitech rep come take a look at it before I request a replacement.
Thanks again. |
