my friend is looking into building an intel dual core system, he doesnt have money for a good conroe chip... he is looking for something at about 8-900 dollars, this is what he has now...

would recommend a better board, (foxconns don't usually last that long, and aren't great. they do better as a manufacturer for other companies)
go for the 805 and overclock it (can boost fsb to 200mhz and bring clockspeed up to 4.0 almost no problem.

Honestly i would recommend avoiding intel entirely as the amd delivers far better performance in games, but if your stuck on intel,
thats my 2 cents

ok... he doesnt want to OC the chip, and he wants the intel. the motherboard was changed to this one

There will be a Conroe in that same price range when they are released. And the conroe will spank that P-D in just about every aspect of computing. So even with me being an Intel guy I would say if he has to have a new system now get an AMD. Or if he can wait get the conroe.
