So has anyone here overclocked this chip?

Tomshardware.com and other sites have posted that you can over clock the cpu to 4.1 max...and it blows away any other chip on the market today (1100$+cpus)in regards to graphics, editing, gaming etc...

I bought it but have not put it together yet.

Love to hear any thoughts/news

=)

i had one (on a board that could be overclocked) that I managed to push over 4 no prob. Since i didn't have a harddrive at the time i couldn't test stability, but it did manage to get it posting well after 4.0 using stock cooling. All in all an impressive chip overclocked. At it's stock values however it's performance leaves a very great deal to be desired, so far in all the applications i've used, an s462 sempron 2400+ with 512 megs ram (ddr333 single channel) is significantly faster then the 805 at stock speeds with 2gigs of ram(ddr400 single channel). If i had a board that supported overclocking i would prob run it at 4.0 all the time.

Welcome to TN

Always overclock through BIOS. Software OCing is not as good and can SERIOUSLY corrupt data. An OC that will not post from a bios OC may well do massive dammage from a software OC.

Read the stickys in this section.
