Can someone refresh my memory to where the large ferrite ring is suppose to go in a new PC case? I know it goes around a wire for EMI shielding, just forgot which one... not that it makes a big difference anyway. _________________ AMD Opteron 175

| The front panel wires (on/off and reset switches, lights mostly) are wrapped around this ring. Fairly uncommon these days. You could probably leave it out, but it won't do any damage, either. Your call. |

I know know one uses it... but this thing is about the size of a quarter, with a pretty large whole... if I used it for the front panel cords, it would definetly hang. But I wasnt planning on using it anyhow...
Toggle, Ferrite rings are used for EMI, electromagnetic interference... apparently ferrite a good shield for stopping this radiation... I think it's slightly magnetic, but I could be completely off... its the same material thats wrapped around practically all PCI-Express power cords at the end, for the same reason.
But using these rings are the same as using anti-static braclets, a precaution to a once in a lifetime chance. _________________ AMD Opteron 175
