Ok so your computer is for gaming, you dont need a X2 processor at all, when it comes to gaming you will find that most standard AMD 64 CPU's out score the X2's.

For your graphics card, 7800GT PCI-Express are going very cheap at the moment (especailly in the UK), and seeing as i own one myself i can highly recomend it.

If your trying to save money in places, ask yourself if you need an SLI board? Will you actually ever own 2 cards? You could cut some of the price out with the HDD, unless you REALLY need a 300gb drive for gaming? I would imagine a 200GB would suffice.

600W is more than enough, you could get away with a 560W PSU with that setup also.

As for your RAM, look into getting some faster stuff for overclocking, PC4000 would be great for that.

Hope that helps.

I would get some faster ram, in the pc4000 territory so that you can overclock that beast.

Same motherboard will do.

It has overclocking options so you can up the front side bus.

That is why you should get some higher speed ram so you can overclock and get some extra pop for your buck.

if you were to downgrade on the motherboard, what would you go with.. i like asus, unless i can be convinced that the MSI boards are nice.. i got a speadsheet being buit to caculate my price.. i think i might have to downgrade to a 200gig hard drive and save a little money there.. .
board/processor (from newegg) would run me:
200-board
300ish- chip...
=500

hey nathan, what video card do you like =
6800GT???

thanks guys your a great help!!
gotta get my credit card paid off so i can start purchasing...

well... lets not throw intel out here , You could always wait for conroe which beats any AMD chip out there as of right now... But if you need to build it now, then I would go with the A8n, and a 7800 by nvidea, then the ram and stuff the others recommended

So you dont' want to overclock at all?

Seems a shame to spend that kind of money on something that can't overclock, hell, why not go with a cheaper board if you are going to stick to stock speeds.

Cooling is essential in all modern PCs. As things have gotten faster they have gotten much hotter.

If you do it correctly OCing can be done with relatively little risk. About as much risk as building your own PC. Follow the instructions posted by the various members of the forum and you should be able to milk a bit more power out of your system with little to no risk of dammaging the system

Good idea getting the fan controller, helps quiet down the PC when you need it quite and you can push out the heat nicely when you crank em up. Have fun with the build

Nothing wrong with overclocking if you do it right.
