Another nice review Joe.
I can say I really have liked this case since I first saw it, but have never had an opportunity to build in one yet. _________________ .

I like these cases as well. Maybe that is why I have two of them
For the most part they are easy to use and wire management is easy enough.
They also lend themselves to watercooling with little trouble. But then again once you have the know-how it is easy to do.
In about two weeks I will be able to let you know how the P160 will handle a monster power supply. Yes, you guessed right. I am getting a new PC P&C 1K psu! So stay tuned for more info. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Hey weaz! Did you have any issues with the 5.25" drive rails being too long by a smidge? |

what's the problem you are having with them? trouble getting them to latch in?
If so yeah I did have that trouble somewhat. It depends on how they are mounted on and line up on the drive's body. But yeah you have to put a little force behind the installation to get them to click into place. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Based on the GREAT review I bought the P160. I am stuck though as where AND how to place the temp probe(s) (I am inviting trouble with that one..grin)
Here are specs:
DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI Expert
AMD FX60 Toledo
2GB (2x1 Gb ) Corsair XMS PC3200
XFX 6800 XTreme 256MB PCIe x16
SATA WD2500KS & SATA WD3200KS
2x Sony DW-G120A Dual Layer

Welcome to TweakNews! and thanks for the kind words. Nice rig you got there, I have one very similar.
I place one of the probes near the top of the case kind of out in the open to get an idea of how the internal case temps are. I tape the other one to the C drive since SpeedFan doesn't read the temps correctly for some reason.
You can put one of the probes next to the IHS on the CPU, but it really doesn't tell you much.
Just play around with them and find out where you can place them to give you the info that you want.
I like this case very much, and good luck with yours. |

Thanks. Are you the author of the review? Great job that.
If I am reading your note correctly, it is not useful to try and do near CPU but rather the probes are best suited as you described?
I have read so many forums my head is swimming but most of them talk about CPU temps.
Since I have the probes as part of the case I may as well as take advantage of them. I just want to do it where it does most good. Thanks again.... |

Yes, I did write the review. It's nice to know someone actually reads them!
You can easily place one of the probes on the edge of the heat spreader of the CPU, or on the heatsink near the cpu to monitor temps there, but keep in mind that the reported temps will not be representative of the actuak CPU core trmps.
If your Expert board is like mine, it probably under-reports temps by 7-10C. I use "systool" to monitor temps, because you can tweet the temps. For instance, I tell it to report my CPU temps 7C higher than the diode is reporting. Works pretty good. I've learned never to trust MOBO reported numbers, temps or voltages.
Good Luck |

Joe I finished it up and your guide was very helpful. Grin...I took the cover off at least 12 times to get her done on stealth doors. I could not tell what the fan control was so tried to find something that looks like it. It came with lights which I could not figure where to put and the kids want them in. Any tips would be great. I put the sensor as you described, thanks. Below is what inside. Thanks agian, Joe..

SATA WD2500KS & SATA WD3200KS

Nice Rig! I'm happy to help, but I'm not sure what it is you want. My case came with no fan control and what lights are you talking about? |

I bought a Nexus fan controller. It came with two long UV lights. I did not install those. This case is great looking. I bought Scythe 120m fans and they are really quiet.
What is weird is one hard drive WD2500KS is running at 52 °C. The other is WD3200KS 34 °C. Mkaes no sense to me... _________________ "Illegitimi non carborundum" |

I have a WD2500 that runs at 50+C as well. I think that they report temps incorrectly (+15C or so) If you have some circulation around it, I wouldn't wory about it too much, It's going to be OK.
I would try puting one light on the bottom of the case near the side panel and the other behind the brace that runs front to back on the left side. This would give you good lighting and also hide the tubes somewhat.
Good Luck! |
