Hi, just got my 7800GT, and i seem to have lots of colour problems dotted around the screen. Is this the drivers? Or the card itself? Its fitted with nvidia silencer 5. Loading up a game like oblivion, theres colours dotted around everywhere.

Thanks for any help

make sure you have completely removed all the drivers from you old graphics card (and the new one) and reinstall your drivers. You may need to download the driver removal tool. Check the other threads for a link.

If you still have issues post back here

Good luck.

Hi, i did that and it seemed ok. The REALLY weird thing is though, i turn the tower upright and all the colour problems come back. On its side everything is ok. Im baffled.

Make sure its seated right and that you have good cooling to the card. Sounds to me like the cooler may be mounted poorly, check to make sure the HSF is making good contact with the chipset (no gap) and that the hsf is attached well.

Yep, i see the tiniest of gaps inbetween, i dont think its making contact. Ive tried screwing in the 4 screw support things at the back, but they wont buge. Do I need to apply alot of pressure?

I would remove the heatsinc, clean all the old thermal greese away, apply a new layer of greese and then try applying the heatsinc and align it properly.

^ Exactly, good advice. NEVER apply too much pressure and NEVER tighten your screws too tight, you will dammage your card. Be careful dude. Your problem should be fixed by Zerebro's advice.

Good luck

Yeah that is a heat issue. There should also be thermal tape or the like on each of the memory chips. As it sounds alot like the memory is overheating.

Hi everyone, sorry for not replying for whats happened. Basically got a refund on the card, but there is suspicion that it could be my mobo? Its an AGP + PCI-E board. Could there be a fault with my motherboard? How can I tell? I dont want to go buying another GPU and find out its my mobo.

It's possible.............really, you don't have a PCIe slot on that mobo. It's actually tied into the AGP slot. I've heard of quite a few problems with that setup.
