OK, when I turn on the computer all is ok, then when the windows load screen came up it froze. I tried safe mode but it is missing file a347bus.sys and wont load. It wont let me get into command prompt either so I cant restore. Is there a way to get system restoregoing around this (98 boot disk?) I really need some of the files off the hdd for school.

do you have access to another computer, the easiest thing to to, is to stick the drive into another computer, as a slave, and copy the files from the slave disk to the disk from the other computer... only takes a second to switch the drive, and then u dont have to boot off of it and worry about any corruption.

yep thats what I do... Then again thats why I have like 5 hard drives. 2 Of Em actually have Boot Partitions on them, just swap the sata connector when one of em fails. Like maybe once every 5 months, but it makes it easy to deal with.

well... after some research I found the reg key I need to delete. Only problem is I dont know how to delete it without being in windows. Any suggestions? I think there is a file you can make and run from msdos, but I don't know how to fix it so it will work for my system. I have the reg key written down somewhere... I will post it later. (The problem is with alcohol 120% the new version of NERO and SP2) Any Ideas?

If I have to, I can move the hdds over to another computer, but I would like to avoid that, such a pain to get them back in with my case...

It could be...............

You're saying that at the setup screen, where it tells you files are being loaded, you're getting an error that says "vgamon.fon is corrupt" or "cannot be read"? 9 times out of 10, that's a mobo issue.

no, I haven't reseated the vid card yet... I didn't think that would cause a prolbem. I am getting another copy of XP Pro SP2 at the end of the week to try. My computer never really got dusty because I always am in there playing with something, or rearranging cables. I flashed the bios to an older one for the microcoding update and I can boot SP2 now. So, I will keep you guys posted.

Keep an eye on it. I had the same basic issue with the Chaintech board I got. Three tries gave me the same error you got, the third time it loaded fine, took all the updates, but when I started installing programs, I got BSOD's up the wazoo.
