With all that has been occuring over in D2OL-land it might be a good time to start a fresh team with the active members of TN.

I think it would be a good thing. Can anybody come up with a reason not to? I mean, only about ten of the 20+ members are still crunching.

How about "Team [TN]~tweaknews.net" Other suggestions...

Cap'n weaZel gonna be our new team owner? toothy7

I will be more than happy to be team captain, if that is the common consensus.

For the team name I was thinking of just using "TweakNews.net"

as there is a TN on there already, Team Norway

Please post your thoughts on possible team names. I will give it till tomorrow. Then tomorrow evening I will start the new team and get things started. So you have till 10PM EST 20 Jan 2006.

Might want to wait a bit to see if they can recover anything before you change.

^^^ agreed there.

I can delete myself from the team, if it's a worry. I would just stick with what you have, and see where it goes.

Yeah, Nate has a point, we should wait to see if they find any working backup data before we screw around with the team structure.

But if and when we decide for a name change, then count me in.

Well, we could wait a day or two. But, I'll wager they will not recover any stats.

It is really not worth either keying or parsing old data (some of which is under scrutiny) into the current data, or vice versa. Considering this is a not-for-profit setup that didn't spend $30 for new batteries for their UPS. I'm sure spending hours of time working on team stats is really not the priority.

But, this is a good time to do clean-up. I'm sure active TN members would happily delete themselves if they didn't believe they were going to participate again. The problem is all the in-active members prolly aren't reading these posts, and they will just hang around.

Likewise, at D2OL, when they get some time to work on the stats data they should prolly clear some inactive teams and members out. They also need to reset the nodes starting date to reflect 1/17/06 so the candidates per docking time reflects correct information. But again, it's prolly not a priority to them.

The stats are byproducts of the DC project. TRI cares about the data not the stats that we look at.
At this point I am having mixed feelings. The lack of support for the DC community by TRI is disheartening (ie they don't care about keeping IT personel staffed to take care of the project's servers, and they have ignored the power needs of the project servers). TRI has also given very little feed back to us about how the data is being used. Then on the other hand the project is aimed at a veyr worthy cause and something I can back whole heartedly. I know I have gone back and forth on this many times, and that is because this does mean alot for me to be able to support this project.
I have noticed since Adam was hired that there seems to be more info coming from D2OL about what is going on. I realize TRI has D2OL on a showstring budget and info has come down the pipe that the DC servers are getting their own generator and hardwired UPS's along with other new hardware. They are asking us for our patience while they get things ironed out. And to be honest this is asking alot at this point. But the wait should give us; 1. a new client, 2. a new NAS, 3. a dedicated generator, 4.better battery back ups.
Charles Backus, I think has been a man caught in the middle of two very tough sides of this issue. He is working for TRI and can only do so much with what he is given (which at this point isn't much). And then he has to deal with us, the DC community. Both sides are hard to please. He has fought to get us new hardware and better support. So I say we give him some more time to see what all he has been able to do. And I ask you, my teammates, to stick with me on this.

Let's do it. Here's my thinking.

Clean our unused nodes. (I did mine already)
Keep our name as "tweaknews.net" simple and descriptive.
Get our members down to the active crunchin' fools.

We should look very lean and mean. It might get us noticed more, and in the way we want to. The lean, mean hardware guru's we are. glasses7

BTW...we are currently the #5 team and seem to be holding our own...that puts us ahead of a few recognizable names.

Things are looking more like they will not going to be the way they were.
Likewise, Free-DC's Stats have been moved to two seperate groupings:

New Stats: http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=d2olnew&team=Tweaknews.net+Tweakers

Old Stats: http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=d2ol&team=Tweaknews.net+Tweakers
