Yep...meant to post this somewhere, this is a good place..

This is after running benchies and what not for an hour. What's really nice about the water, is how long it takes to get to these temps. It's like a big thermal shock absorber. Can't wait to do some heavy video work with it, and see how it deals with real work.

[sith voice] In time my dark lord ....in time....

I have a video program that always gave my northy "hot flashes." I can't wait to try it out....
Right now I'm finishing loading it, so I can get it on my desk for real. That is after all, what I built it for. BTW...I'm running it a 4gig full time, that's my current thinking.

I would say run it at 4 to start off with and then after a while try it at 4.2. With all the parts you have 4.2 isn't a stretch at all for that series of cpu. Especially with winter coming (well maybe in a few months )

It's a Swiftech "Apex" kit, and a Danger Den NV78 block, plus 4 ax handles of Tygon tubing.

How is the volume level of the psu running full load?

I'm guessing you mean volume as in decibels and not gallons.

It is the quietest machine I've had since the slot 1 days. So far I'm really happy.

hehe yeah gallons would be bad for the psu. I am surprized that, that machine is quieter than your last. I would have thought that the psu alone would be louder. Just goes to show ya what I know.

Well,I built my old one for as quiet as an air box could be....You know how it is, the initial goal when you start, so to speak. It wasn't too bad either, but it had like a dozen fans in it. And, as it got older I seemed to have to up the cfm a little here and there...But it was never quiet...and in the summer....well....this is Phoenix.
Actually, the two Raptors are louder than my old 15K raid array. They just have a distinct little "cackle." Or maybe it's just I can hear them cause the rest of the box is quieter.
Ths PSU is actually pretty quiet, I'm pretty impressed with it.

As promised, this is 2y's new...recycled...machine. Recycled chip, mobo, PSU, and drives, as well as a recycled weaZel waterblock. New case, and 120mm swiftech kit, also new vid board.

3.2northy, [TN] corsair memory Very Happy , Vantec 510 psu, maxII mobo, Raptor HDD, Plextor DVD, and a BFG6800U Very Happy .

And, here's a shot in the dark....as good as a rookie like me could take.
The object is these purple fans give this a "glow" that's fairly unique.
Unfortunately, they show up kind of blue in the pic.

The temp is 52C under load, cause I know I'd get asked. I'll post the 3d05 in the proper thread.

2o I know you probably already know this but the water block is mounted upside down. The outlet port needs to be at the top.
Looks very nice 2o, a job well done.
One question though, do you get lower cpu temps if the case side is off?

Hmmm. why? Mechanically, it's identical, as far as clamping. There's to much flow Very Happy to effect the temperature. The only difference I could find was the added torque on the bracket (which is the non-stock, metel plate under the bottom type) from having the added wieght of the tubing, over the center of the block. I see on the internet where most ppl put it on the other way, I just don't know the reasoning.

Actually , no. The side fans do pretty good job, and actually improve the vid board temps a hair.

2Y hasn't had a chance to use it yet, he left for the 3 day weekend Thursday night and I didn't have a chance to put it in place till Friday night. It was all he could do to back up his stuff on the server before he had to leave. He should be back late this afternoon.

I'd think that the outlet would be on the bottom, to follow the gravitational flow. Radiator > CPU > HDD > whatever is on top > radiator

the reason why you want the outlet on top is to help clear out the air bubbles.
Remember air rises and you don't want any trapped in the water block. But I did seal the pathway thru the block so it might not be that big of an issue with a high flow pump.

I see. Yes, you did seal it, and trust me air, is no problem. On the initial fire up the air bubbles ripped through there at warp speed, and I haven't seen one since.
I don't think gravity means much to a closed system like this...unless you leak at which point the water ends up in the bottom of the case.
But most importantly, I believe, (i think this is what fnf means) is that the res/fill cap is the highest thing because any air will end up there.

and trust you air?... Confused

yes, i have been in Puerto Penasco (a.k.a. Rocky Point) since friday so that wuz fun. It just so happened that there was a bike rally there this weekend, so things got a little wild...

and i havn't been able to do anything w/ it yet, so iono. all i've gotten to see so far is my father's horrible taste in wallpaper...

my only complaint so far is that i can't run it 1280x768.

that and the fact that the 2 little friggen leds on the mobo are drowning out my fans... (where did i leave that electrical tape...?)

(... anyone have a purple ccfl 4 sale...?)

2blonde2care's (as 2Y calls her) new (ish) computer. It is mostly spare, leftover and ebay parts. 3.0G northy, 9800pro, IC7-G. As weaZ will testify I've been bitten by the water (cooling) bug pretty well. Anyway, this is an old coolermaster case I had sitting around. (I loved this old case) Upon approaching completion I was asked, "why this case doesn't light up and have a window?" Well, plan B, you can see. Also, in the one pic you can see the new Dell 20.1" widescreen I picked up on TN's (screamin')deals page a few days ago. It's really a great monitor for the dollar.

<<monitor

It glows UV Very Happy

Used the flash on this pic

better view of my window mod.
