|
|
The nozzle on the resovoir of an old Koolance case with integrated liquid cooling broke off. The warranty has long since expired, and now I gotta figure out a way to reattach the nozzle and make it water-tight. I'm thinking some kind of epoxy, but I'm not much of a handyman and I'd like to hear your suggestions.
Can anyone give me any advice? Thank you in advance. |

New case.
Hate to have to say that, but depending on where it broke, there's no way you'll (a) get it glued back on straight and (b) guarantee that it'll be watertight once under pressure. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Don't know which case it is, or its particular arrangement, but perhaps you could get a 5 1/4" bay reservoir and plumb around the broken one. _________________ .

| I've seen marine epoxy putty do wonders. Cheap fix if it works. |

I will have to agree with mojo here. But a photo or two would be great to be able to give more advice. Also more info on the system in question would be good too, as maybe we can get this upgraded for better performance. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

My concern with gluing it back on (depending on where it broke, of course) is if a little too much expoxy is used, and squeezes into the hole, making it smaller, the pressure will be way off.
If it was already so brittle from use that it broke, the rest of the system would be suspect as well.......fixing that one break might cause something else to pop, especially if you "squeeze" the pressure enough.
My 2 cents, anyway. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

^^^^Good point, but how much pressure is running through a system like this anyway?
Maybe as easy as some teflon tape and a hose clamp...but i cant really picture it, pics? _________________

a koolance pump isn't going to push very much pressure, so that isn't a concern. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

I'm not talking so much about raising the pressure, but if it's the fitting on the output side of the pump, and the hole gets closed enough, the water pressure will actually drop. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

i also agree tha t pressure change may cause other things to fail, as this product was only manufactured to perform under the original conditions.....
...just some food for thought _________________

Thanks for the help!
I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that the resovoir could actually be removed. In my initial distress I posted here before checking it out thouroughly. Sorry. I bought a replacement, hooked it up, and all is well.
Sorry bout that. |

no problem, we all know how it goes when some hardware breaks. It can be a very trying time. We are just glad that everything got sorted. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
