Hello Nathan... and all others,
I did never mean to insult anyone Nathan and I of course respect what you are trying to do: be fair. I also of course understand you should not test one item differently than others and if you are satisfied with your testing methods then you should keep them that way.
The only thing that bothers me and should in fact bother you too, is that you make a claim without fully testing it. You say it will not overclock any further than 220 MHz, whereas what you meant to say was it did not overclock any further at the latencies you tested, being 2-2-2-5 and 3-4-4-8, but with other latencies it possibly could, but you are not sure about that, because you did not test that. That would have been fair.
People that are reading reviews are looking for answers they can not find anywhere else, especially on the manufacturers site. Then it would have been very helpful to give your readers the knowledge you, as a tester, could have acquired a lot more easily than any of us could have.
Just an advice to make your reviews even better in the future! |

thanks for your interest!
First, I do not have this specific memory and second it is pretty hard to find any reviews comparing these kinds of settings, but this comes close and is in fact even better:
http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2390&p=6
The OCZ 4000 VX Gold is tested at 2-2-2-5 at all frequencies and has chips that are very similar to the ones on the DIMMs in question here (Winbond CH-UTT instead of BH-UTT). The Corsair TwinX1024-4400C25 is tested at 2-3-3-10 and even at 218 MHz it does not perform as good as the VX at 200 MHz. Some scores are worse for the Corsair even at 240 MHz, compared to the VX still at 200! |

I don't care how two memory kits that I didn't test are benchmarked on another site.
All I care about is what I SPECIFICALLY benchmarked and not any different speed kits.
I am not testing 4000VX gold, I am testing 3500 VX Gold and this is what the thread is about.
So please keep on topic and please let go of the fanboy attitude bringing in a whole bunch of unrelated information that has nothing to do with what and how I tested here.
I am not insulting OCZ or their memory, I am posting my claims about the memory kit I actually tested and my finding. I have a responibility to be fair about products and again, this memory performs well for what it is intended for, but for the money, it is not a good product for the dollar.
I am not going to base my judgement on the speed alone, I have to judge a product on a whole slew of factors including value, performance, reliability, ease of use etc... and on those three, the 3500 VX fails on two of them.
If you want a site that lies, twists information around on a product to show it is something that it isn't, then I suggest you can go elsewhere and enjoy someone else's reviews.
But honestly, coming in and putting my review down as incomplete just because you are a OCZ fan is just a sign of immaturity. _________________ Owner & Administrator
