I have a thermaltake POLO installed on my system. The other day, my system started overheating and I had to constantly keep the fan on full, which is loud enough to hear on the next floor. I put the Intel hsf back in and it is actually working better. With the POLO, I had to take the side off just to play HALO. Does anyone have any suggestions? and yes I do have AS5 and I have tried reseating it 5 times.

hmm whats the ambient temp of your room, and what type of other fans do you have on your case.

I myself had terrible results with Tt products for Air cooling my pentiums,

I would truly recommend a thermalright cooler if you buy int he future, but yes more than just the CPU fan would help out alot. THanks

I have 1 intake, and 3 that blow air out. I am going to add 3 new fans later. The room temp is only like 30*. The mobo barely reaches 40. One hdd is 28*, the other is 34*.

you want the window blowing in.

also the bottom should be in as well.

The thermaltake Big typhoon is a good unit as well.

well, I solved part of the overheating problem. I still have that PSU with no fans. I am ordering a new one after X-Mas. I took it out and it hasn't overheated yet and is much quieter. I am going to switch teh fans around though. I am still on intel cooling.

yeah a psu with a dead fan will seriously overheat a system. Be very careful using that system in its current condition so you don't hurt alot of parts.

I think it was too many exhausts and not enough intake.

When the power supply fan failed the system which had negative pressure will start drawing in air through the power supply which will be drawing in hot air.

With more balanced air flow a power supply fan failing shouldn't contribute to case temperatures as badly.

It will lead to system failure though and the only thing keep that PSU alive again was the nagative pressure drawing cool air from outside into the power supply and into the case.

yeah, I switched the fans, and I am going to leave the PSU out until I get the money for a new one. I was also ably to rig a fan to cool it a little outside the case. (wouldn't fir inside).

well, my computer is done for a while. I was playing BF2 while listening to iTunes and the computer crashed to windows, only it was very garbled and you couldnt see anything. Rebooted and checked voltages and they were spiking like crazy. Immediately shut down and I am going to order this new PSU when I get the money. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103924

aye, a very fine PSU. Either the Intel or aftermarket cooling setup should keep you from overheating without a doubt. If you want to keep you computer quiet, I might suggest the cooling setup I have now for my 3.4 (p4 550). I have pictures posted here:
http://www.tweaknews.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6382
Its the Thermalright XP-90c and 92mm TT SilentCat

She idles around 45-47C and runs 100% (pretty much all the time) under 60C
It makes me happy

well I ordered my PSU today. I actually decided to get an enermax liberty PSU

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194003

the antec was no longer carried by newegg, and I haven't had good experiences with zzfly and other places.

Another point, your intake and outlet fans should be fairly ballanced, too much out and not enough in can cuse a vaccum inside the case and therefore less air to cool with. Fans toward the bottom of the case should be intakes and fans towards the top should be outlets (exept for side pannel fan over CPU, that should always be an intake).
