Ok boys...this is a good one.

Is there a manual driver boot for XP?

My roommates PIII was in a crappy case, with a crappy broken fan, and a crappy PSU

So, i transferred it to a NOT so crappy case....with a NOT so crappy fan and PSU

However, now when i turn it on....it gets to the XP Prof welcome screen then reboots.....over and over again. It boots into safe mode without a hitch.

Only hardware config changes were.....pulled out modem....no need for it. Changed drives to master and slave as opposed to CS (the problem happened before i did this).....and the PSU

Event log tells me nothing....the crash happens before the logger loads.....so i want to boot driver by driver to determine which is causing this.

Any clues?

Are you using a different monitor? I ran into that the other day for the first time...I didn't believe it....Worked with my bench monitor but not with 2Y's.
I had to go back to one older version video driver, and it was fine.

Have you tried putting the modem back in? Perhaps it has a "strange" driver that needs the hardware "uninstalled" so it doesn't make a driver call.
Or something similar involving the modem, since this is the only hardware change.

Got a spare HDD laying around...if so, try reloading xp on it, you'll prolly find the hosed hardware straight away.
Don't suppose it would be chipset drivers getting weird on ya....like an old via setup that needs updating.

how about using safe mode to uninstall all the drivers and start fresh from there?
