Nice site you got here. Read many things here including your review over the LOGITECH Z-5500 5.1 DIGITAL 500WATT RMS COMPUTER SPEAKER SYSTEM. I had already been looking at that system and considering it and then I read your review over it. Just now I am seeing if my computer will be able to hook up to it and which is why I am asking.
My computer is a Dell Dimention 2400. A 2003 modle. Yes go on laugh at me.
P4
2.6ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce FX 5700LE
Need any other info?
So I assume it can handle the Z-5500? By that I mean like power supply or all the cord plug-ins and stuff. Yes it's a stupid question and I'm an idiot, DON'T RUB IT IN!
Now the sound card which is what I'm mostly worried about.
SoundMAX Digital Audio So I'm guessing I should replace that? I want theses speakers to perform and not be held back.
Would a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value Sound Card work? Or what would yall recommend that is under $70. Tight budget after I put out the $200-$250 for the speakers. I'm open to all suggestions.

If you took the time to read this and not laught and me tooo much,
Thank You! And I look forward to hearing all the technical wisdom which I don't have a shred of.

The audigy 2 value will be okay in your system as long as you enter your bios and disable the onboard sound BEFORE you install the new one. I dont believe that your onboard sound would have all the ports necessary for that to run (can someone check that please?). The speakers run on a wall power plug thingy... you know the three pronged thingy mabobers that go into your wall.

Welcome to TN....................don't worry, we laugh at ourselves alot.

up until last month I was running a 1.4ghz in a 3 year old mobo

Anyway, yeah.............for the best sound, you'll want the Audigy 2. You could run the 5500's off your setup just fine, but only in 2-channel mode. Your built-in sound doesn't have surround capability. Like SoS said, make sure you go into your BIOS and disable the onboard sound. I believe you hit F2 on your machine to get into the BIOS.

The power for the speakers comes from their own power plug............all you need to plug into your computer is the three input cables.

*Disclaimer* Installing a PCI card is pretty easy, but if you're the least little bit unsure take it to a shop to have it done, while you watch, if possible. It doesn't take much to ruin a perfectly good machine by installing something wrong.
