So I built a system for someone with the following specs:
P4 2.8 GHz
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Radeon 9800 Pro
1 Gig Corsair RAM
Large SATA HD (don't remember the size)
He uses his computer mostly for gaming. I would like to use my computer for video editing and the occasional round of Splinter Cell. But as you can see from my sig below I don't have SSE2 support which means I can't run Adobe's Premiere Elements. My question is:
If we switched just motherboards and CPUs would he have a better gaming machine? Or would he end up the same or worse?
I ask this because from what I've read AMDs are better for gaming (in general) and Intels are better for digital media creation (in general). And as far as having to reinstall everything - not a big deal. _________________ Pentium D 805 2.6 @ 3.8GHz

I wouldn't suggest it.
First off, he's got a P4C, which is far better than your 2500+, all things considered. I don't know what mobo you have, but his is one of the better ones. Swapping for an older AMD-based board (nForce2 if it's as old as I think) would be a serious downgrade.
Plus, yours is older, has been OC'd, and will have a shorter lifespan due to that. His is new, never been OC'd, or just mildly.........bad idea.
Upgrade your system, don't start swapping with friends. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

No doubt you will end up causing numerous problems for BOTH PC's if you decided to do it too. Sods law says it would. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«
