Yrs ago I tried this trick and it worked well. In a Windows system you add a dedicated disk for system paging, set page size to infinte, and turn off Windows page management. Windows overhead goes down, system is always on the seat spot of the disk, and the disk never has to be defragged. It made a noticeable improvement in performance.

I have avoided SATA/RAID because of the data recovery issues. BUT HOWs THIS? Use a pair of SATA disks in Raid 0 just for system paging??? Any idea what I might gain? I have disk intensive apps with Photoshop at the top. I assume the WD Raptor is the way to go?

Honestly, for the money it would take to have 2 hard drives running in raid simply for paging is crazy. It would be better spent on more RAM.

Besides, doesn't XP limit your paging file to 4 gigs anyway? I know XP pro does.
