...Does MicroSoft plan to ever come out with a New Operating system?

I've had this Puter since 2002, I bought it mainly to lose the endless problems I was constantly having with Windows '98. Dial-up was a pain too, but XP really helped a lot.

I'm still happy with XP, especially since I have 384k broadband now too, but keep wondering what's next from those guys? You'd think they'd have put out Windows XQ, XR, XS, XT, etc. by this time...?

probably a dumb question, ..

that is a hard question to answer. As it all depends on what you want to do. For ease of use I think windows still has it there. And for supported hardware windows definately has that. But many forms of Linux are becoming easier to use and offering better hardware support too.

Windows Vista, eh...? Sounds like a questionable Mexican restaurant.... Wonder what the changes will be? I'll have to read up on that one. Glad they finally decided to update, geeez.

WeaZ, I've heard good & bad things about Linux, mainly from my cousin in Germany, who now uses XP. He wanted me to download Linux to try it, but I was skeeert, after all the problems I went through with '98.....CRASH Mad

It makes me wonder how many different OS's there are out there now...?..

I've been beta testing this version.......

http://www.deanliou.com/WinRG/

Anyway, yeah, Vista is the next one to come out. Rumor has it set for 3rd quarter 2006......they ditched the new file system in order to push it out faster. By that time, XP will be 6 years old, and the longest-running OS MS has ever had. But hey, it's still pretty good.

Agreed with Weaz, too. For the average user, XP is the only way to go. Power users with some experience can benefit from Linux, but Linux boxes still aren't ready for full-time use in a one-machine household.
