Could a socket 939 AMD Opteron fit in a normal mobo. Like my Abit AV8 ?

I dont think it would... the bios probably wouldn't support it. Check google and see if anyone has done it.

Yes, a skt 939 Opteron will work fine in any skt 939 mobo. That's assuming they actually release the 100 series anytime soon.

a socket 939 Opteron will work in any socket 939 board, the socket 939 opteron is only a San Diego core with 1mb cache at the prices of the Venice processors with 512kb cache.

And yes they are out you can get a 146 for $201 at monarch.

Its basically a 3200+ with 1meg cache and the san diego core and the reliabliity of the opteron series. I highly recommend going socket 939 opteron rather than a regular AMD64 socket 939 processor. And might i add people have gotten these babies to 3.0ghz on air.

They slipped that one under my radar.

Yeah, it'll work in your board.
