i recently purchased a ga7vaxp, radeon 9700 and 2400xp. this was 2 weeks ago and still having problems. the error messages and problems are too numerous to list them all. at times everything would run normal and actually farely stable, then on next reboot i would either get a blue screen, a catastrophic error, system recovering from serious error, etc. etc. etc. the last straw was when i tried to install windows on the new harddrive wd800jb. after the setup initialized it would kick out to the blue screen claiming i should remove any new harddrive and or check for viruses with a critical stop error. so i did. i reinstalled the original harddrive only to recieve same blue screen with same error message.. great. so then tried my old 8 gig drive.. same result....can't even get to the recovery console.. so i pull out the 9700 and use the old geforce 2... everything runs like a top.. before i never really noticed much diff between this 2400xp and the old pIII i was using on the other system.. now it seems to b running like it should.. my question is if this is a vid card issue or mobo issue? or both? or maybe bios or software? i've tried every bios available f4,f6,f7,f9.. no diff. and also every ati driver and via driver available. same result.. no issues now with the old vid card back in... i consider myself not much more than an amateur user so any help would be much appreciated.
