Hey what's up guys, I've been running 1gb (4x 256, yuck I know) for a while and I've been getting tons of random resets, and my performance in games has gone down and such. It took me about 5 months to realise/get time to check out and I thought it soudned like I needed to check my ram, so I ran Memtest, and got a ton of errors, so naturally I started to test each peice seperately.
Turns out one of my sticks is rought with errors, so that means, being as they are dual channel, i need to crack it down to one pair. bringing me back to 512. I do not like this.
Anyways for a while I've been meaning to get some more RAM, or to be exact, replace my current. I've been looking at 1gb dual kits (2x 512) and since I have a soft spot for Corsair I've come down to pretty much 2 conclusions:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80097-09
and
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80097-08
only problem is that I can't tell the difference between the two >.> maybe I'm blind but they are both running at 2.2.2.5 and 2.74v and all that good stuff, but the one with the black heatspreader is a little cheaper. I know this has been a long post and all, but if there is something I'm missing could you point it out? also, if there is otehr ram that is superior, for around the same cost (yay, half my paycheck is going to a speeding ticket)
Thanks guys, i appreciate it.
Good to post again |

leadfoot....
I think you are correct....the more expensive one has the "platinum" heatspreader, the other one is black.
I'm sure you'll be happy with either one. _________________ .

they are the exact same, well other than the heat spreader color. Other than that they are the same thing.
Dont give up hope on your current memory yet. Remember Corsair has a lifetime warranty. But what I wanted to say too, is that you may just need to bump the vDimm a 0.10 volt to get it to behave like good little memory again. i would try this first before oyu go off and spend more money on new memory.
Also you need to remember that on the 875/865 chipsets that 4x256 actually performed better than 2x512! _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

| really? I did not know that. Yeha I'm runnin 875P, and I'll try to pop up the voltage a smidge like you said as well. Hopefully I'll be able to solve this without spending a shizload of money. |

remember that if the voltage doesnt solve it contact Corsair about an RMA for the stick you have. LIFETIME WARRANTY! _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
