I am building another system as you can see from my prior post, but I am wondering if I should buy an aftermarket HSF or just use the intel one (socket 775}. I just built a system and the four plastic pieces on the stock intel fans really pis* me off. Are the aftermarket HSF just as cheap or do they mount a different way?

The stock Intel HSF is actually very good, and one of the quieter ones. Otherwise, I'd suggest one of the Zalman coolers. If you have room for the model with the 120mm fan, it'll be nice and quiet, and cool adequately.

I just don't like the plastic inserts the intel fan has. That's my problem with it, it makes me uneasy especially since I had problems installing the last one I built about 2 weeks ago. I couldn't get one of the plastic pins completely in the hole and had to leave it in half way (it was tight) so I would break the damn board trying to push it in.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0&type=&description=Zalman&Category=0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=6&Go.y=30

There's a couple there, they have the blue LED fans, if you're into that sortof thing.

As far as the pins go........you still need to use the stock Intel bracket for all but a few HSF's. Put the mobo down on a flat surface, and carefully use the butt end of a screwdriver for a little leverage. They're meant to be VERY tight, otherwise the bracket will pull off under the pressure.

I find that the Thermalright heatsinks work better than the Zalman units do. Either one of these will have a different mounting method than the stock LGA-775 heatsink.

That's the new fGTX standard........

F***ing Gigantic Technology Extended.

There hasn't been any reliable pics of the new formfactor's case, but here's a pic, showing the scale of the new keyboard also required.....

OMG!!!!! the cpu bracket will def. break off if you use that. heck i dont think you could fit something like that on a standard case I guess gigabytes going for "the bigger, the better". It would do excellent cooling though
