I am building another system and am debating whether to get the XMS corsair memory for $ 123 or should I just get the corsair value ram for $ 89?
I am getting 1 GB of RAM b.t.w.

There's not a whole lot of difference between the two, but it's enough. I would say the ValueSelect if you're not going for massive OC's, just good, stable RAM. Otherwise, go for the XMS.

Another thing to remember is the XMS is matched pairs, while the ValueSelect is just pairs.......again, more important if you plan on OC'ing alot.

corsair value rams are excellent... if your not gonna oc. it provides some overclockability but dont expect too much from it.

aren't you building a LGA-775 bases system? If so doesn't that take DDR2? anf if that is the case then I would be looking at either the 5400UL or the 8000UL. The lower latencies make a huge difference.

I have Value select ram. It is very good but i can only get stable oc at 218. But This ram has done its job well and i can superpi 1M at 32.5 . I do have different ram on the way but this stuff is very reliable.

Weaz is on the track....what are you building? Lower latencies are generally a good thing, but are needed more on some AMD's than on Intels.
And, as said, if OC'n is on the horizon, that must be considered also.
Corsair builds some good memory.

As long as you're not going to try for any major OC, the value select will serve well with the 865 chipset. At least in my experience.
