Hey, this might seem a bit stupid, but I'm new to this, so bear with me.

I burnt a DVD onto my computer and am now trying to burn it onto a DVDR.

Problem is that my program - Nero - keeps saying I need a dual layer DVD R.

Is there any way around this (since they are so expensive)?
And are all DVD burners compatible with dual layer burning?

Arg. Frustrating.

Thanks in advance, Natalie.

No, not all DVD burners are compatible with Dual Layer DVD's. Only burners designed for them can use them.

What model DVD burner do you have? DVD+r DL aren't that expensive (DVD-R DL are, for some reason), so you need to know which kind you can use.

Nero will tell you you need a Dual Layer if the files you're trying to burn are larger than a standard DVD+/-R, which most movies are.

Without telling you how to circumvent copy protection, I can tell you that you need to use a program like DVD Shrink to ditch all the extra info from the commercial DVD you're trying to back up, so it will fit on a standard 4.7gb DVD. You'll be removing the menu options and all the extra stuff, just retaining the audio and video files for the main movie (no previews, commercials, or any of that crap.)
