when you say "house" speakers, do you mean the hifi unit or are we talking about the whole house being wired for sound?

Anyhoo, as long as there is a line in (also called AUX) than all you need is either a suitable cable length with a jack plug for the sound card on one side and depending on the input on the audio system, either RCA type connectors or another jack plug.
You will be able to get a suitable cable from Radio-shack, or any other electronics store. they don't cost much.

Yes, It's like a 30 watt 2 channel. But your really better of with a good multichannel home theater amp.

All you would need is a cable with 1/8" stereo plug at one end, and two RCA plugs at the other end. Check places like Guitar Center or Sam Ash, you can get them as long as 30 feet.

I have a 50 footer, made by belkin, it even has a pass-through 1/8" plug, so you can plug in regular PC speakers at the same time

I don't know that I'd go longer than 30, with a line-level signal. You really start to lose signal at 25 feet.......at twice that, ypu'd lose a minimum of 25% of your signal.

If it were a long stretch, and it was just music, I'd suggest a streaming box and Ethernet, for the best results, seems like he's talking about relatively nearby, though, I did something similar 5 or so years ago, using a 200w Sony mini-stereo as my computer speakers.
