i was wondering if anyone knew of a good multiplayer co-op lan game for lower-end pc's. the lowest being a p2 400mhz w/ 64mb sdram and 1.5gb h.d.d. (gotta find a cheap video card for it) i am wondering b/c i find old pc's and restore them to working condition for my pleasure and seek to reap the benefits w/ my buddies.

Counterstrike would be an excellent option if you installed a decent videocard. _________________ Owner & Administrator

^^ What he said.
I'm an avid CS gamer - to the point where myself and a few online gaming friends are planning to go into competition soon (www.caleague.com) - and have few problems on an old 800 MHz Celeron w/ 256 MB and a PCI - fuckin' PCI, lol... - Nvidia GeForce FX 5200, 128 MB. Of course, a couple of the redesigned maps for version 1.6 are a bit frame-unfriendly, especially de_aztec, but it's still playable.
Oh, and Nathan, I was originally led here after reading about your OC'ing of that 2.4 to ~3.6. Amazing stuff. What do you suppose the limit is as far as overclocking it via FSB only and leaving voltage normal @ 1.525?
Regardless, hell of a job you did. You bought a processor that should run you, what, something like $600 or a bit under - for $180 or whatever you got it at. Awesome. |

thanks for the hasty replies. do u think an 8mb ati video card would suffice in the p2 400mhz system? i can get one at newegg for $19 but it may be better to go with a 32mb ati card for $30. i still gotta check the exact specs on them. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |
