hey guys i use MIRC ( a chat style downloader, a lot like bit torrent or wtv) and anyway im always having the same problem with windows reporting errors everytime i try to accept a send (accept a download) from the server, ive tried repositiiong the download to a new location, renaming the file, removing any sort of firewalls, nvidia or windows.. and still this ruddy error message... NO I WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEND THIS ERROR REPORT TO MICROSOFT BECAUSE THEY WONT EVER FIX IT... the error appears always just after clicking "save to" having chosen my directory, when accepting. i dont know if this will be of any use but here is what the report contains according to windows:

and then it says": the following files will be included in the error report"
C:\DOCUME~1\OX\LOCALS~1\Temp\ea00_appcompat.txt
can anyone make sense of this or offer me advice on how to fix this problem with winders? thanks guys. _________________ My setupd:

check the voltages on thre ram to make sure they are what they should be...
I've seen alot of DFI boards in the last few weeks that are undervolting the memory causing a whole ton of problems...
if the memory isn't where you set it at, i would recommend going to dfi's website and getting an updated bios (the one that fixes memory issues is still in beta i think, but it does fix alot of memory related issues), and ummm yeah scan for virii and spyware too. _________________ If time is of the essence,

Have you tried re-installing MIRC? What client are you using? MIRC clients seem to be amazingly buggy under XP, depending on which one you're using.
Do a virus scan as well, there's a few viruses out there that will do what you're describing, but it would be doing it to every .exe file you have. I'm thinking it's more a problem with MIRC and XP, myself. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

First of all you can disable the error reporting service, and shut off the flags if you are not going to use it.
Next, have you tried this application on a new load of windows?
I say this because it looks to me like it is having problems with another application...the question is, which one? _________________ .

Your reloading....if that doesn't fix it...then you got a hardware problem....
Don't suppose you have a ghost (or similar) image. _________________ .

If you were doing the xp64 for that machine anyway, I suppose I would just go for it... But...if the same or similar problems show up right away, you may have a hardware problem...my guess is you'll have a whole new set of fun problems show up, but this time based on the new OS.
Make sure you get all your 64bit drivers dl'd first though.
Good luck. _________________ .

lol yah i decided against all that... i called plextors customer support, he knew within a ferw words what the problem was... it happens a lot apparently.. needed to DL a nvidia based driver for the DVD thing to work.. so i did and it worked perfectly.. HOW EVER, he also told me not to use x64 until longhorn is officiaLLY released because plextor doesnt have 64 bit nothing yet.. so all is well except still the same damn issue with the mirc crap... anyone anyt leades on that? (and thanks for all the help with the other stuff) _________________ My setupd:

Came in late on that one..........
I actually had a similar problem with my Samsung DVD drive, hooked to a Promise ATA100 controller. A quick driver update fixed it.
As far as MIRC goes, did you completely uninstall and clean out any residual registry entries and files/folders? If you didn't, then you most likely didn't get rid of the problem files.
Your burners should work under XP64, just use the standard Windows drivers. Might be a little slower, but they should work.
Have you done all the Windows updates, including SP2? I seem to remember an issue with the firewall causing problems with P2P type setups. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Uninstall whatever you're using, then run something like RegClean. I use Tweak XP myself, it finds unused registry entries and deletes them. Just be careful, sometimes even the best cleaners make mistakes. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Use system restore to go back to a day before the problems occurred and work forward from there. _________________ Owner & Administrator
