Good News:
-Received the motherboard and CPU today!
Bad News:
-We are going to my mother's for dinner, so no time to install anything tonight when I get home from work.
OK News:
-will be able to take pics of the products and get them posted!

OK to answer your question Dene, I use spray paint .
I use Rust-oleum satin. classic, low-sheen finish. Smooth protective enamel. And then I let it sit for at least 24 hours outside and in the bright, hot Arizona sun. And the paint gets baked on.

And now with the pictures!

Here is the happy littel cpu in her protective box

A little info in case this turns out to be a great OCing chip

Now for a some mock-up action.

There actually wasnt a CPU under that waterblock and that isnt the one that is going to be used. The "real" one was in the backyard drying from the paint that was applied a little earlier.

Ok OK I know I forgot the SLI bridge in those pics dont worry here it is installed!

Now with the motherboard installed in the case I can begin on some wire management.

It looks as though I am going to have to order some longer SATA cables to be able to keep things orderly inside the case. Aling with this I need to build a molex extension to bring a four wire lead to the Asus "EZ-PLUG" as this is required when running SLI. I can either build one or I can get a set of the OCZ Enhanced leads.
Still in the works is a shroud from around the rear fan diverting air flow over the motherboard's power circuitry. I need to find a way to mount a fan to provide flow over the video cards power circuit as well.
We are getting closer to having this system fired up!

I also wanted to ask everyone what they thought of my idea to cover the tubing with the braided cable sleeving.
Should do it?

Why not....easy enough to take off it you don't like it down the road.
Make sure you tie it down on top of the nipples though. Not on an unsupported piece of tubing.
It's standard 1/2" vinyl tubing isn't it? You could get stainless reinforced tubing for it. That would look cool, too.

the tubing is going to be a combo of 3/8" ID and 1/4" ID Tygon tubing.
I think one more order from Frozencpu.com is going to have this project finished up. Oh and maybe a trip to Home Depot and Fry's Electronics. Then we can start on getting the system stable and then its on to benchmarking!

The only wierd thing I've heard about that setup is the EZ-Plug sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. I know I saw something in a review about it, give me a day or so, I'll see if I can find it again.

Looks blindingly awesome, though..........would you, perhance, be able to spare a cup of older parts for a friendly, attractive neighbor?

No, ME! Not that bimbo!!

I found that review, it was in a mag I have in the bathroom. What the reviewer said was that sometimes the machine would refuse to POST until you unplugged the EZ-Plug, booted, shut down, and plugged it back in. They had a pre-release sample, though, so hopefully it got fixed.

Get pics of that thing!

after all that has happened I have come to find that the nForce4 SLI for Intel isnt working too well. As most of the boards with this chipset have stability problems. So now I have to make up my mind. I cant either RMA the board and get a mobo with the 955 chipset or I can hang on to this one and just play with it till the SLI certification of other chipsets happens and then get a 955 board at that time. One downside to this is the memory doesnt want to run over DDR433. But the cpu shows good ability to overclock, as I have had it running memtest at 4.0ghz. Not really sure how high it will go, yet!

Here is a screenie of 3dm05 run at 3.7 in sli.

havent tweaked the vid cards yet (it was getting very late when I got to this point) But more good stuff to come soon.

Ok here are a few pics of the finished product.

I had to take these outside since everything is so dark it has very little contrast so if I took them inside you wouldnt be able to see much of anything.

A couple of angle shots here so you can see whats going on inside the case.

After viewing the pics on here, they dont do this case justice. It looks so much better in person.
I will get a couple more of the outside as I am working on the tweaking of the bios and software side of things and get them posted when I can.
Also head on over to the Processors and Overclocking section for the OCing results.

The sleeving turned out better than I thought it would have.

And thank you. But there is more work to be done. I dont think that the stock Koolance radiator is going to be up the task of cooling this beast. So I might mod in a BlackIce Extreme dual 120mm radiator into the case. But we shall see.

Hoedizzy,
So far the paint seems to be very durable. Its been some of the best stuff I have used so far. Its the Rust-Oleum Satin finish Enamel. With the high temps and low humidity here it bakes the paint on.

well the ambient was about 82-84F and when running memtest and installing windows and even benchmarking the temp probe on the CPU waterblock reached 107F at the highest. That was running the Koolance on auto which keeps the fans rather quiet. If I used the manual setting and cranked the fans up, which got loud, the temp on the CPU sensor would drop quickly down to 100.
The other two sensors are located on the backsides of the GPUs and the highest that they reached was about 99-100F.
I think I may have the routing on the watercooling backwards. Meaning it hits the video cards first and then onto the chipset and the cpu last. If that is the case then the intake and outlet are reversed on the CPU waterblock, so it wont work as well as it should. But there is still modding to do! And maybe a new motherboard too.

would u rma these parts right now? if u were going to switch to the 955? honestly, me being an amd guy, i think u should have waited for the x2 considering the already reliable sli platform.... but then ur obviously intel guy... and that 4ghz o/c is sweet ... so good work kog ... brilliant machina!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if I am going to RMA the board yet or not. Still havent decided.

If anyone has any questions about this project or any of the products used in this project. Please contact me here on the forums so that we can share the info for all. As there are others out there that might be looking for the same info.
Thank you.
