Am wanting to put FRU 09K9982 micro-atx into std ATX case and would appreciate help with matching panel connectors.
Before creating interface first need to establish what is what and what goes where?? Plus micro-atx only has a line of 8 pins (J27)
whilst there 10 pins/13 sockets on case connectors (though presume scope for common earths??)
ATX case connectors:
1) Power Switch (2 sockets):
- PWR_SW
- Ground
2) Power Led (3 sockets):
- + 5V
- (blank)
- PLED
3) Reset Switch (2 sockets)
- RESET_CON
- Ground
4) HDD Led (2 sockets)
- ?? Ground??
- HDD_LED
5) SPEAKER (4 sockets)
- Red ?? Reversible??Ground??
- Blank
- Blank
- Black ?? Reversible??Ground??
Questions:
1) How do I identify the 8 pins on the micro-atx please - plus any ideas on where to locate manual please?
2) Is there scope for common ground/other shared connectors and, if so where?
3) Do any of the connectors plug in elsewhere on the board?
Some kind help in creating a circuit diagram for the connectors would be brilliant - any help most welcome.
Many thanks .
Regards,
Denis |

Google seems to think you have an IBM netvista A40, so flipping through here may help a bit >> http://www.ibm.com/support/us/ <<
your best bet would probably be to look closely at the original connections, if you have them, and trace them back to whatever they connect to, (Power switch, audio, etc...), then you can basicaly reverse-engineer it to find what needs to go where.
can you give us a bit more info, like what model PC this mainboard is from? it will help in finding documentation.
Oh, yeah....Welcome to TweakNews _________________ Yeah....... ok |

Ham_fist hi,
Thanks for the info and thanks for the welcome too. It was useful to check out the IBM site - though still yet to find a manual??
The info on the ATX case connectors is not really a problem. The main problem is having absolutely no info on the mini-ATX and:
1) Being sure that J27 8 pin connector on the mini-ATX is the right place to connect?
2) Identifying precisely what each of those 8 pins are?
3) Checking out the possibility of any additional individual connection points on the mini-ATX for any of the 5 ATX connectors
i.e. sometimes HDD LED has its own individual connector?
Main problem is having no proper information on Mini-ATX and trying to find the best way of getting that. Accept that this would
be the very information usually needed to reverse-engineer to. In this case its not having that information to work back to that is
the problem.
Any help towards identifying those 8 pins would be brilliant. The fundamental problem is that I do not have a handbook. Once again,
many thanks for your help and pointing me to the right model and IBM site, which is a good place to start.
Regards,
Denis |
