Like I said...it's still a learning experience. I've learned a bit so far. One thing is...I really don't need that much HDD space...at least not in there....Since I have a 1000T network here, I can just use network drives for recording storage, and can access from anywhere on the network...course I could also prolly stream or ftp the video to your 43" DLP. Very Happy

that is true, that could be done.

I know about that storage issue. In my PVR I have a 80 gig SATA drive and a PATA 200 gig. And dont come close to using it all. But its always nice to have it.

While I was posting piccies I decided maybe I should show this one from awhile back.
That's TN memory passing tests with flying colors

Nice

How was your experience with that Cooler Master case?
I have a spare 2.8C just burning a hole in my spare parts bin, and I want to build a HTPC around it.
I really want an Ahanix, or a Silverstone, but they are pretty expensive. Also, are you using MCE, or a third party media software over windows?

The CM case isn't too bad...about like a 4U server case to build. A couple-o-things about it. It is very deep...so pay attention to where you are going to put it. In my case I will have to carefully cut out behind it so it can breathe. Also it has metel EMI shielding thingies on the expansion slots...which are good from the design stand point...but mean on fingers. Confused It looks really good, IMO, and the air flow is pretty good, and it comes with a 350 watt PSU which is more powerful than most of these short cases.
As far as OS and software. Like I said..I'm still farkin with it. Right now I got plain ol' XP and checking out ATI's software suite, it'll take days to play with it all. ATI gives a pretty good amount of shizzle-ware to go through. I already found out that my Ulead authoring software won't support the AC3 audio that I get with the free-air HDTV. (which looks kickass I might ad) So I'll need to look into new software for that.

i didn't like the fact the the coolermaster was a microatx board,
my first htpc was with the antec minuet, and that had to be one of the worst cases i ever saw... i replaced it with the silverstone lc-03V, and then again soon after with the lc-10m

Heh, nice system you have there! I missed this post the first time around, I'm glad you have a new PSU, I have the same case and PSU (case is white with a different front), the original PSU is the one that whent BANG and took out my motherboard and CPU ! Whatever you do, DON'T ever trust the original PSU, it is WAY underpowered (I think it was a 350W MAX, I only had under 180W load and it still died).

I was using my system as the DVD / DIVX /MP3 player, it was hooked up to a Technics (panasonic) class A amp (4 speaker surround, built my own speakers and I did'nt even need a SUB as the bass level was good enough) and the TV out + DVD decoder card hooked up to a splitter for my TV and LCD projector.

Now the case has an old Celeron 400 @ 530 being used as a cruncher for TN's D2ol team. When I get the time and the cash I'm gona rebuild it, The case fits perfectly in the cabinate that my TV stands on.

I know what you mean about those PSU's SS, but be aware there are two kinds. Retail and oem. The oem models have the shorter leads, and two fans. The retails have longer leads and three fans. The greater difference is inside, which is kind of hard to see in the piccies. This one is the retail. Bottom line is....although they are rated 420W figure the oem to be like 300W and the retail like 380W. They are okay, but not a top quality psu.
This is not going in my day to day rig, it is a project, for the projects sake, only.

Yep...I stuck those out in the sun when I did them and it's like baked enamel. Phoenix's sun is intense this time of year.

Yesterdays temp was 112F w/ 8% humidity Shock

very very nice 2o!

after looking at that I have some ideas about the water kit. If the spacing on the rear fans is right you will be able to mount the radiator on the exterior of the case and also the fans on the back side of the rad. Because you want the fans pulling air rather than pushing. Or you could have a push-pull config too.
But anyways I have ideas!

Sorry Josh,,,this has been in the works for a little while.
I just was in a position to put it together and check it out, this weekend. I'm still waiting on my water system to finish....but that seems to have "gotten lost" somewhere. That was the purpose of this case, it lends itself (as weaZ has pointed out) to water soooo well.

Or...maybe I just couldn't wait for your pictures any longer.
