Yes, I'll try the PQI when it comes in. But the Kingston worked fine in my NF4 ultra-D board - that is until i tired putting a venice in there. Anyway the memory is really the only thing that i havn't upgraded in this system so i guess it's the only thing that can be causing the problem.... the new mem should be in by wednesday so i'll keep you guys in the loop!

more theories welcome, though

wow... tom.... i shouldn't need any special RAM just to boot into windows. That's ridiculous. And i'm not planning on dishing out another $300 for a gig of it.

we'll see... if it doesn't work after the new RAM and hard drives come in, then i would have reaplced my ENTIRE system for no reason.... there has to be SOMETHING i'm missing.... this is a good ole winchester too!

one word on the DFI motherboards with the JP17 jumper for the Vdimm. There have been problems with the boards dying and and memory being killed as well when the jumper is in the 4v position. DFI is saying to keep it in the default 3.3v location.

Also there are known cool boot problems with the DFI boards in some cases.

well the only jumpers i changed were the SLI selectors.... so unless the jumper comes at 4v stock then i don't think that's the prob. that's all i've changed from stock... so it SHOULD work OK. I guess when the real test will be when the mem comes in
