hey guys, i just got my new OCZ DFI NF4 EL Dual CHannel 1 gig 2x512 platinum DDR625 PC5000 memory... this stuff is pretty versatile..
i have a dfi nf4 sli-dr mobo, athlon 3000+ and this new ram.. with cmos reloaded i can save bios settings.. i have one setting where the proc is at 2.0ghz, and the ram is DDR400 @ 3.0V 2-2-2-5 timingins.. ULTRA stable... and another setting where the proc is at 2.55ghz (@1.75 V with temp only @ 38 load degerees C because im in basement) and ram is at DDR625 (fsb=310) with 3-4-4-10 timings.. all 1T of course again ram is at 3.0V, and id say this ram is pretty damn versatile.. what do u guys think? i must say though... its at its max i think... anything looser than 3-4-4-10 and she wont boot at all.. and higher V invalidates lifoetime warranty, heat spreaders do disappate heat sorta well, but i dont think i could get this ram any faster than what its at for OC it seems like they just took a stick of their tightest timed ram... and gave it more voltaage handleing capabilities so it could reach the DDR625, not bad though.. i usually run it at the 2-2-2-5 timings.. a lot more stable... my proc is unstable when its that over clocked and i cant lower my proc multi any loiwer then 7.0 or else it wont post... so i never even really got to try to OC the ram that much.. i need a new proc:) any 1 know if the FX series of amd procs have a approx FSB max?? but thats a hige OC especially with stock cooling eh.. to go from a FSB of 200.. to 312.. thats sick.. and to be only limited by my proc... not bad eh..

not too bad at all.

yeah with a little better cooling you may be able to go higher on the proc OC, but not always will they get higher than what you already have. There have been some reports of the FXs getting upto 3.0 on air but that is not a guarantee that you will be able to reach that.

ok so ive found optimal performance settings.. im now running
240 FSB x 9.0 = 2.160 GHZ on proc 1.5V , with a divider of 5/6 for the ram which is running at DDR400 3.0V 2-2-2-5, this setting gives me optimal performance.. just a question about page file memory.. should i use it or now? i have a terrible hard drive...

Yeah, use a page file. It kinda goes: proc-->RAM-->page file-->hard drive. I would keep the page file about double the size of your total RAM, and you'll be fine.

That pretty much fits with what I was thinking about the new DFI specific RAM.....it's the "best of the best", so OCZ set it to run at higher speeds, which it will do stably. To an extent.....it's still DDR, and it's still hitting the max ceiling on bandwidth.

It's kindof a shame, though.....you bought RAM that was rated at DDR 625, but you have to run it at DDR400 for best performance.......

yah i know, but it seems like all DDR is like that and only the better models can hit 2-2-2-5 at DDR400,
