EXTRACTING DRIVERS?

Hi guys a m8 of mine recently bought a new computer from tiny.com and they charge you £80 for something they call a "system restore disk" basically a cdr which contains drivers/ops etc.

Since my m8 is buying windows media centre separtely there was no need for him to purchase this disk.

My question is, since the computer comes installed with windows home edition and the MOBO/SOUND/VIDEO/ETC DRIVERS is there any way to extract the drivers from the system and back them up on cdr for when he upgrades?

A speedy response would be appreciated hes looking to install media centre asap

If you can manage to get a hold of tweakui, it has that as a feature. You select the path, run, and all your dll drivers and such go there. Works great.

Unless they're using proprietary hardware, MCE should have all the drivers you need already. Just find out who the manufacturers of the sound/video etc are, and you should be able to get the drivers there.

Otherwise, yeah, TweakUI will do it for you. I'd find out who makes the stuff, though, so you can keep the drivers updated.

This is all the information of the specifications page

Intel Grantsdale (915P) PCI Express chipset based FIC motherboard featuring PCI Express x16 slot, Intel High Definition 7.1 surround sound, and Intel Matrix Storage Technology.

But when i look for drivers i dont know the model number, if you look at this website you can see there is a few possiblities...

it should as well as a Revision number. You may have to look over the board very closely to find the info but it should be there. Also check their site and they may have the info on where to look for the model number and such

Yea that's the best bet....but it looks as if it's an intel reference.....so the drivers (I'd wager) are just intels....since most the mobo features are chipset based.
But don't forget all PCI cards. They should be easy to get.

Yeah, it'll be on the mobo somewhere. Usually (not always, though) the model number will be somewhere near the RAM sockets/CPU socket, while the revision number will be on a corner. Seems to be a pretty standard way of doing it, but I've never looked at an FIC board.

You shouldn't have any trouble, though, it's a standard Intel chipset.
