As you all know Windows XP in its natural environment cannot survive without third-party defences. Sooooo.... I am wondering what everyone is using for:
Firewall, Antivirus, Spam Filters, Etc.
I have tried everything but i dont know which one to settle for :S.
sorry if something like this has being posted before.. its my first post :) |

I use the windows firewall, but I also have a hardware firewall (router). Zone Alarm makes an excellent free firewall as well. AVG is my antivirus of choice, it's free and works great. I run AdAware, Spybot S&D and Spyware Blaster. They are free also. Keep them updated and run at least once a week. More often is better.
Good luck and welcome! |

AVG
Adaware
Firewall provided free with SP1 disc (works great, its a one year trial, but every time i format it sorts itself )
Registry Mechanic
and just for keeping things in general order, i defrag once a week, though that has little relevance to your question. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

Pretty much the same as everyone else.
AVG AV
AdAware SE
Spybot
(all three of those run nightly)
Windows Firewall (SP2), kindof doubled up. My "server" machine has it running more or less securely, my main use machine is hooked to the first machine, and also has the firewall running, but locked down so tight I can't even email myself half the time.
I'll also run PcCillin's online scanner once every couple of weeks, and whatever the current Trojan scanner is once in awhile, just to be sure, whichever of the more popular ones have the most current updates. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
