I haven't installed SUSE linux myself, rather I've installed Redhat but it should still be similar, if not easier.
I'd suggest backing up all your important information just in case. Suse is about as user friendly as Linux is gonna get but still, you can't be too careful. so back things up.
Then you need to create a swap partition for the linux install (a separate partition to hold the swap file for linux).
There should be some kinda of wizard, etc but the best I can do for you now is point you here:

Good luck. _________________

SUSE's installer should include the partitioning. You don't want it FAT32, you want it in a native Linux format. For stability, you should use the Reiser file system. You CAN use FAT32, if you want to read/write to your Linux partition from within Windows, but it doesn't work all that well, IMO.
Personally, I use Mandrake Linux, it's a little harder to set up, but it seems to be much more stable than SUSE. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

| Suse 9.3 is a very easy install. Boot with the first CD or the DVD. Select install. It will walk you through the rest. It will detect Windows. It will detect your other NTFS drive. It will suggest installing on the third partition. (If it goes for the second partition it is easy to change). Once installed you may have some tweaking to do, but it works pretty well out of the box. I suggest you go to http://lists.suse.com and sign up for the suse-linux-e list. I am currently running a dual boot laptop with Windows XP and Suse 9.3 Pro. It works great! |
