hi
I have windows xp pro, it came with a dell computer i got, now i installed it on my other computer(this one , the one i normally use) and Actavate it?
i dont think u can, but are there anyways , i can use it on multiple computers?
I am right now running xp with no activation.

What you want to do is intall XP, and let the activation run out, 60 days I believe it is, then on the last few days download the first service pack.

The one glitch that microsoft never adressed was the fact that the first service pack resets the activation, so you can go another two months without activation. I think after that it would be safe to back-up and format and start from scratch again. After all with all the spy-ware going around these days, a format every 4 months isn't the worst thing in the world.

when you activate the first system, the dell in your case, ms gets a print (essentially) of your dell's hardware specs. so it will not allow you to activate it from another system. which means you have to either get another license or purchase another copy.

that's just the ms life, now that we have activations.

They only allow I think three hardware changes before you will have to call Microsoft and explain why you need to change your hardware so frequently.
