Yes, it's a good card, but it is made for the budget sector and is DirectX 9 compliant.

Yeah, unfortunately the Geforce Ti4200 doesn't support DirectX 9.
There's a link to an other post - ranking of graphic cards

better video card doesn't necessarily mean better graphics (unless your switching from nvdia to ati ) it usually only means better fps, and more stability.

I disagree with Nathan on one point though...

I'm going to state that I don't owna 5200 and am just going off of the numerous reviews I've read.

IF you want a fully DirectX 9 compliant card, skip over the 5200 and grab a 9600. You'll get a better value and ATI actually sat down with Microsoft and worked together so that the ATI hardware follows the standards ESPECIALLY PixelShader 2.0 a lot better.

not just that but if you've read another post where a guy has a 5200... he says it's performance is crap... definately agree on the call for a 9600pro... more for the money... or if you're really stuck a 9200... (my radeon 7500 64mb is a hell of a lot better than my mx440 i find... it actually made unreal 2k3 playable on a duron 750, and played it better than most of my friends who still had mx440's with 1800+ and 2400+ systems...

The FX5200 is supposed to be targeted towards the budget market and is supposed to be used for modest gaming at lower resolutions.

Comparing it to 9600pro's or higher is just not fair because it is not meant to compete with those cards.

I was just pointing out that to get a fully DirectX 9 compliant card you would have to go to the 9600

That is not correct.

The FX5200 is fully DX9 compliant.

I have a hard time labeling any card that NVidia currently puts out as Fully DX9 compliant.
