This debate on JL is a matter of opinion i think. Sand i agree that both model JL you mention are AWESOME subs, and you really get GREAT sound out of them....but my ear doesnt prefer that sound to others. JL's push a LOT of air, and theres something about how the sound around it get ..."altered"....by this massive wind.
I have a visonik 15" and an OLD rockford punch 10" in a band pass, and each of these speakers produce, IMO, better tonal bass. Moreso the 15, but man, its easily as loud as the JL's but less intrusive the brain.
again dont get me wrong...JLs are rockin subs....=D

Yup, I said that it was "to my ears". EV actually does produce "short throw" subs for pro sound engineering use, that sound awesome in a box designed for them.
All of the subs I mentioned are good, just depends on what you want........I don't care for the sound of the JL's, or really even the Alpines. Too woofy for me, even in a specifically tuned box. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
