I just read this story http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031107/index.html
seems like nvdia and ati will finally have some competition. I hope this lowers prices.
What do you guys think? _________________ DiRoLoKo!! I fix robots and wear a bunny suit for a living.....the best job i ever had, most money i ever had :) |

I don't think they will be worried.
Man, look at tom's graphs, the FX5900 out that far ahead of the 9800XT, I don't be friggin thinking so.

I agree with that. I do think that if this new company puts out a good product, it wil benefit us the consumer. BTW i used to be an nvidia fan, but lately they are just not up to par with ati's cards, not to mention the improved image quality that ati provides. _________________ DiRoLoKo!! | The difference i find between an ati and an nvidia card is that the Nvidia has a ton of raw power and can't do anything with it... the ati is a slower card but does the work more efficiently that it not only that but does it well... so that when you put them next to each other they seem fairly well matched... the nvidia exceeding where raw power is required, the ati exceeding where finess and efficiency is required... But of the two an ati i will favor as it is cheaper and better value. |

I think that once the XGI cards are actually out and people can play with them it'll decide whether or not they're worth playing with. I'm not a big fan of Tom' Hardware when it comes to reviews because a lot of times it seems to me that theyu're biased towards the Intel/Nvidia group. But maybe I'm seeing demons in the corners again. That happened once. _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

3DMark2003 ver340 is out and Nvidia based card's performance dropped over 20% with the new patch!!!
Ohhhhh boy, this'll be fun....... _________________ Owner & Administrator

Speaking about the ration between clock cycles and instructions being processed, AMD's processors can process more instruction per cycle than intle proc's but because intel is running the proc's at more than 1ghz higher frequency they still manage to outperform AMD. Not to mention that the FSB is twice as fast on intel's proc's, which in turn doubles the ram bandwith. _________________ DiRoLoKo!! that's why AMD's are always easier to clock than Intels...but then there's Nathan and his 2.4.. ..hahah.. _________________ still the same old computer tweaker..

I personally used intel's processors just because I don't have to worry about them burning down the house but who knows, may just give AMD a shot if they can come out with a more competitive fsb. _________________ DiRoLoKo!! You mean like the Athlon 64's with NO FSB because of an integrated memory controller? _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

Yes, but the Athlon 64 is unforgivingly expensive. No way in hell am i gonna spend 700 bucks on a processor.
Oh btw this thread was supposed to be about the new video card company, and somehow i managed to turn it into a cpu argument, Oh well _________________ DiRoLoKo!! I fix robots and wear a bunny suit for a living.....the best job i ever had, most money i ever had :) |

XGI is a welcomed and refreshing new company that might spur ATI & Nvidia along at keeping themselves up on their research and development. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Anything that spurs innovation is good.
I Wonder if they're going to be smart and put out so mething to combat the All in Wonder. Nvidia hasn't really and that's hurt them. _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

Just imagine 3dfx came back with a new series of cards that just completely destroyed ATi and Nvidia in both speed and quality. That would be so cool!!! |
