ok, first off you go to c:\windows\downloaded program files\

Remove everything in there.

Clear your temporary internet files and cookies.

Install and run Ad aware SE from www.lavasoftusa.com, update it and do a complete scan.

Install and update Spybot Search and Destroy v1.3, update it, and scan.

Then find CWsheder online and run it with no IE wondows open and allow it to scan for the Cool Websearch Malware.

Update and run your antivirus software.

also use Mozilla Firefox stop useing IE thats why you have so much stuff on your comp, Firefox blocks all the bad pop-ups and bad cookies that IE doesnt block, plus it has much less holes in it than IE. After switching to Firefox i run ad-aware once a month before i ran it 2 times a day.

Nathan's got you on the rightous pathway....IE w/ sp2 ain't to bad...
When you get it finally cleaned, go to your IE tools>internet options and in the advanced tab set it to delete temporary files when you exit IE. And, in the privacy tab set to advanced and set it to block all third party cookies. While your in the privacy tab, set the popup blocker to high. That'll help alot....and show your 'rents how to quickly block all cookies there in the privacy section for when they decide to have another adult night.

One thing these guys forgot.......do all your scans in Safe Mode!

You should follow these steps......

After you install AdAware SE and Spybot, run the updates. Then, reboot into Safe Mode, turn off System Restore, go to Folder Options, and make sure hidden folders and files are viewable, and uncheck "hidden or protected system files". Then, run your scans from Safe Mode. Some of these ad programs/spyware install themselves as "system files", and trick Windows into restoring them at the next boot, via System Restore. Turning that off, then running in Safe Mode, will permanently delete them, and not allow them to come back easily. You have to have all files viewable, otherwise Spybot and AdAware won't see them. Also, alot of these run at Windows startup, and none of the available programs can delete them if they're in use. Safe Mode doesn't load them, so they delete easily.

I've been using MS' AntiSpyware Beta, and it works pretty good. It alerts you every time something tries to install, modify the registry, or change your browser, and it includes a "browser restore", just in case you do get hijacked.
