|
|
| im looking to buy some quiet case fans for my computer because the ones i got now are pretty loud and im wanting to quiet it down a bit. i have a digital radioshack sound level meter and it measures anywhere from 62-72db outside the case. i recently purchased a new cpu/hs/fan and the fan on it is quiet, its just the case fans im wanting to replace. i have 5 antec 80mm x 80mm x 15mm case fans, 2 in front, 1 side, and 2 rear. can anyone recommend or point me in the direction to some quieter and hopefuly better airflow case fans? thanks |

Panaflo make good quality fans and reasonablly quiet , If your looking for quiet steer away from vantec, antec (think they the same) and evercool. If looking for real quiet like i said Panaflo and silentX i used those in recent computer and you can barely hear them.
Things that make fans noisey are
stickiness:- to stop that rip sticker off the top of the fan and drip abit of oil inside
Dirt:- Just clean out the fan occasonially
Fan grills:- A thing i found out is taht custom fangrills make alot of noise
Fan filters: restrict airflow and make alot of noise
Thats about all i can remember hope this helped _________________ Josh Awards-3 ~ Josh Twinky-1~ Rocksteady-4 ~ HaM-1 ~ Money Money-1 ~ ж award-1~ Daffy-1

Panaflos move way more air but at the cost of noise _________________ Josh Awards-3 ~ Josh Twinky-1~ Rocksteady-4 ~ HaM-1 ~ Money Money-1 ~ ж award-1~ Daffy-1

well i installed all 5 fans, the 80mm 14dba 28cfm ones, and as expected, my case temps have went up but i am very pleased with the quietness of the fans. my computer doesnt sound like a frieght train anymore, instead all i really hear now is my hard drive. having said that, im wondering if these temps im getting now are ok. i took some readings with sisoftware sandra 05 pro.
old fans:
board: 32c
cpu: 54c
power: 31c
silenx fans:
board: 36c
cpu: 58c
power: 36c
are these temps still within about a normal or ok range? i took them under normal operating, not when im playing a game or something and the system is at 100%. they go up about 4-5c more it seems when i do run it at 100% though. thanks for any input
system specs:
amd 3200+ running at 2.2ghz
gigabyte ga7n400 pro2 rev2 mobo nforce2 chipset
kingston hyperx 1024mb x2
ati aiw 9800 pro 128mb
scsi 10k rpm 36.7gb hdd
antec 430 power supply |

What CPU cooler are you running? Those temps are not terribly bad, but your CPU temp *could* be better. Maybe look into an aftermarket cooler? _________________

yeah with an OC in place you should look into some better cooling ASAP.......the cooler your chip runs.....the better for it and its longevity..... _________________

the temps look ok but like the others have said the cpu needs some attention. I would suggest a Thermalright heatsink and install a SilenX fan on it. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
