Better as in...........?
The XP defrag utility is actually the same thing as Diskeeper, just without the fancy graphics options and extra features. Personally, it works well, gets the job done quickly.
Diskeeper is a good one, I've used O&O Defrag before, and Winternals worked really well, too, but none are "free" programs. Unless you really screw up your drive alot, I'd just stick with the Windows stock defragger. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

If you have any Norton program installed, promptly uninstall it to regain system performance. _________________ Owner & Administrator

is there something better you suggest for the small fixes, such as shorcuts and an automatic/manuall registry cleaner? _________________

Try "win speedup" by script soft, I got it off a comp mag CD. It lets you tweak all kinds of stuff , regestry, startup, icons, duplicate files, unused DLLs and a whole lot more. It has helped my performance hugely and it doesn't use up resources
No defrag tool tho _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

Proven to use a HUGE amount of system resources and practically takes over the whole computer. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Yeah I don't think that's true with the earlier versions of Norton. I think I'm running like 2000 or something near there, and it works fine. My friend did get 04 or 05 Norton, and yeah it was a killer, and hard as hell to use. But my old Norton works fine. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

I havent seen what you would call "evidence" from benchies...but i have used several PC's (fast ones at that) with considerably poor load up times for basic programs. Not to mention its a rip off! _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«
