Ok I have dual WD800JD 80gig HDD's running in im assuming a RAID 1 array. Where they run together as a giant 160gig drive. Now Im assuming I would be able to use Intels app accelerator. But it keeps giving me the error about hardware not compatible. Would I need to run this off of the ich5r chip or the promise chip to use this software?? also what would really be the benefit of using it, or would it be faster since i AM using the raid chip for it??? Thanks fellas

all other specs in my site.

Uhmmmm.....RAID0.....ide drives or sata drives?
Anyway....intel app. accel. works on certain intel chipsets....Soooooo...it's pretty well worthless with a promise chip, since it ain't intel. Brick wall

ok so its a RAID 0 array thanks for that clarification, so im assuming that the RAID 1 array is the mirroring?

This is using SATA drives on the Promise chip. I try using the ICH5R and it dont work. So WHY WOULD ASUS INCLUDE THIS ON THEIR DISK IF I CANT USE IT!!!! AHHH mumum

and OMG tahts a lot of smilies (off topic i know but JEEZ)

Would the PROMISE chip run at 150mb/s most the time anyway?

Asus included it because the board has the intel chipset with EIDE. Which is where you would use your app. accel. Really handy when you got a couple opticals on one cahnnel and a HDD on the other.
I believe (I'm sure I'll get corrected) intel also has a sata edition of the app. accel. BUT, again that board uses the promise chip.

You should be getting at least close. It depends on the drive. Some will hit it, some won't, and it does depend on the app as well. Run HDTach on it, as well as Sandra's hard drive test. In my case, out of my three used drives (ATA, but it doesn't matter for this), one can max out the 133mb/s window, while the two others are consistently a tad slower. Doesn't matter what order I have them plugged in, one's just faster than the others. Oh well........

Sorry about that......yesterday was the day from hell (and it's not really much better today), so I wasn't really paying attention.

Those scores look fine, they're right in line with what I'd expect from your drives. Maybe a bit low, I'd expect a Sandra score of 75MB/s for a RAID0 array. Those are 7200rpm drives, obviously, which are slower. Raptors in RAID0 can touch 150, but barely.

By comparison, my DiamondMax 9 Maxtors are a tick faster than yours (too lazy to upload images), in RAID0 I get 120-125MB/s bursts, and an average score of 75-78, depending on the day, the weather patterns, and what I have running in the background.
