Does anyone know how to convert pdf files to word .doc files?
I opened the document I recieved from someone in pdf format and need to save it as a .doc file so I can modify because I need it all the time and I won't have to type it anymore. I get an error that says the document has insufficient permission for this operation. I tried to save it as a microsoft word file. Is there a different way to convert it?
Thanks

Use the "select text" "select Image" or "snapshot tool" from the toolbar, select what you want, copy and save to Word.

I tired that, but when I select the text, it won't let me copy it. In the edit toolbar, it is grayed out, and when I right click, it's not there either.

If you're using Acrobat Pro, it's as simple as downloading the file, selecting File > Save as> filename.doc (select Word .doc file from the dropdown list).

If you're just using the standard, free, Acrobat Reader, you can't really save files in another format. This is to prevent you from altering a file and calling it your own. Part of the security of Acrobat is that you can put text files online, and no other application can edit it, unless you also have the "authoring version" Acrobat Pro.

I'm sure a few people here have it, I have it for my work stuff. If you want, just email the PDF to me, and I can convert it for you.

Some PDFs are locked to prevent people doing that. eg. the rulebooks that Whitewolf releases for free on there site will not allow copying of any kind because they dont want faked books floating arround. You could try printing it and scanning it through an OCR program, thats how I got arround it

I am using Acrobat Pro 6, and as I stated earlier, it won't let me just "simply save" it as a doc file. I get the error I said in the first post. As for the scanning, that was what I originally tried, (scanning the document using OCR and getting it into word), but that didn't work. I started a thread about it on the forum somewhere. I tried for hours and I came to the conclusion that OCR stinks. How come it won't let me just save it as a doc file? Could it be locked or something? Is there an option that must be checked or some settings changed?

You really should be able to save it to a doc file. I used acrobat 6 pro yesterday to do it. The file size was huge and it made the formatting weird, but you can edit it. Do you have a password locked document?
