Note from me........I'll have some "in use" photos soon, I'll post them here. Just having a hard time finding anyone with a digital cam, and I broke mine 5 months ago, haven't gotten around to replacing it.......I took a header off my mountain bike, landed on top of it, in a stream.

Right on......didn't know if you wanted to do that.

Audigy 4......

I don't honestly know for sure, but I'd have to guess no. They're intended for two completely different applications. If I had to guess, the Audigy would be better for gamers, as it supports 5.1 out of the box, but the recording capabilities are still much lower. Keep in mind, too, the Audigy is still PCI based, so you can't use it on a laptop.

Ahhhh, but that's an Audigy2, with none of the recording features. Different animal entirely. I was talking specifically about the Audigy 4.

One other thing I didn't metntion, for sake of the review, but it's in some other posts. PCI (and laptop PCI based cards) top out at a max of 200mb/s, while even standard FireWire tops out a 400mb/s, and this unit supports FireWire2, at 800mb/s........much fatster unitl. Not so important for gaming, but 100% important for recording.

Send me that formal addition so I can add it to the review and tell me where to insert it.

So you are Michael Carter....

Nice FnF.

How does that puppy do with midi sampling and editing? (real world)
I use Sonar, will it work with that?

Cool! I am getting Sonar 4 soon. The program looks soo sweet. If I could get one of those too I would be set!

Hey maybe you could ask Cakewalk if you can do a review on sonar 4 for them...

I'd like to go directly from the 1814 to a hard drive. The best
case would be an external hard drive (an ipod would be too sweet) but I suspect I'll need to use either a laptop or shuttle. Does anyone know of any portable storage media that would work without a pc/mac?

Not for recording. None of the interfaces (like the 1814) include any hardware-only mixing. You have to have a computer for them. There's stand-alone mixers that have hard drives and burners built in, but they're pricey, and not very portable, depending on the number of tracks you want.

Anyway, with something like this, it requires a computer to work.
