im running win xp pro and i tried to install win 2000 server and it gets to the gui but half way through it freezes do you know the problem thankz

more information is needed.

Your setup, your bios settings, how your harddrive is connected?

Is it partitioned?

Is your system overclocked?

Have you updated your bios?

maxtor ata133 80 gig 8mb cache
sony 48x24x48x
wd se 80 gig w/data on it

fully formated

wasnt o/c when installing win 2000 server

latest and greatest bios

install freezes in gui half way through always at same spot
hard drive and cd rom quit running but i can still move the mouse and move the window

are you keeping xp pro on the box to dual boot?
if so, the obvious question is if you are installing to a seperate partition or drive.
(don't know your experience level, so don't think i'm talking down to you bud.)

IVE REFORMATED THE DRIVE TWICE TRIED TO HAVE DUAL BOOT FORMATED TRIED TO INSTALL MIN 2000 SERVER AND 1/2 WAY THROUGH GUI INSTALL IT STOPS LOADING ITS NOT FROZEN I CAN STILL MOVE MOUSE

is it the cd-rom?
i've seen it on several machines where the cd-rom freezes part way through a large install... overheats and freezes.
try another cd-rom.

also gove the CD a cleaning with a wet paper towel just to get any grime off.
