Can it be done?
How?
Will images actually look crisper on my monitor or will the Xbox fail to take advantage of the higher resolutions?
Essentially I am looking for the best Image quality possible for me to play my Xbox on.

You realize that your TV IS CRT monitor? Only...... lots cheaper and bigger?
And all you would need is a sixty dollar or so piece of equipment known as a VGA box or a V--box, or y ou need a graphics card that has a TV in. Most TV cards use the threaded plug known as a Coax cable. Cards like the All-In-Wonder series usually include that as well as a composite (RCA style plug (round plug with one prong, also rounded)) or an S-Video (looks like a mini-din, seperates Chrominance and luminosity for better picture) input.
As far as best image quality? Get a quality TV. Don't even bother with trying to hook it up into your monitor unless you have reason to like you wanna play games in the computer room or you wanna watch satellite on the TV while playing games on the computer. _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

Most Xbox games take advantage of HDTV's, so as was said, if you want a better image get a good quality HDTV and use the direct video cable to plug it up...(the cable isn't available in canada, but should be available in the states)http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=83&products_id=1878&
get an HDTV with that connector and you're set. |

You must have been confused with the question.
I do NOT want to use a TV with my PC.
I want to plug a CRT monitor into my xbox. So howw do I do that?
I already have a 36inch SonyWega HDTV... its not good enough.
I have a crappy on-board graphics card in my Dell computer, and the graphics are still many times clearer on that thing.
So what do I need to do to convert my PC's monitor inot my Xbox'smonitor? |

You realize that doing that will probably NOT help you in terms of quality. For one thing TVs are generally LARGER than a monitor. You are going to spend four hundred on a 19or 21 inch monitor and you can get a 32 inch TV for that much. If it's already because you have the monitor... that's something different. _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

Your missing something....
The Xbox will only use the high resolution IF AND ONLY IF the game supports it.
It won't just show every game in the high res format. And there are only a bunch that have the high res ability. So check your games before you go wasting money on a VGA box.
And if the games looked bad on your HDTV, then you either didn't hook it up correctly or your games don't support the high res. Meaning a VGA box won't solve anything for you. _________________ TestOC PC

Ok i think i got the picture.
Basicaly the highest Resolution any Xbox game will support is that of the HDTV.
So even if I played my games on CRT monitors, they will never look any better then they willon the HDTV, so I am wasting my time.
(it just sucks that the viewing distance is so much further on my PC-Halo... then it is on my Xbox-Halo, even though they both use the same GfX card) |
