| when you said no image, are you saying that the system boots and will go into windows (ie the hd winn spin and you hear the normal booting sounds) or nothing as if the system is dead. If it's the first case, then either teh monitor died or the graphic card, if it's the altter, then it's the cpu or mobo. |

| so the system is fine, it's just that the screen is blank during boot. Well, does he have quiet boot/quick boot, etc, whatever the option under bios to allow system to boot faster enabled? or remove teh boot screen under bios. Sometimes system will do such thing if these options are selected. |

Many times, "off the shelf" computer makers (HP, Compaq, Sony, etc) purposely set the BIOS to show either a custom screen, or a blank screen, to prevent users from figuring out how to get into the BIOS and potentially screw things up.
My favorite story is about a friend, who, after researching how to get into his Compaq BIOS (but nothing else, mind you), reset his boot order. His reasoning......"It gave me options for HDD 0 or HDD 1, and since I had 1 hard drive, I figured that was the right one......." meaning, he reset his machine so it wouldn't boot from his lone hard drive.
Two hours driving time, one way, and I had it fixed for him, since he couldn't remember HOW to get into the BIOS again, and I didn't trust him to do it himself properly.
The majority of people have no business messing around in there, so your store-bought computers generally hide the screen that tells you how to get into it. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

| I think if you want to show something on screen, you can either change in bios or change the jumper (from normal to setting, then you may see all the system info during boot. |
