n/b therm. compound

eh... so wut thermal compound u guys recomend for the northbridge.. i used to run a/s 5 on it.. till i read about it getting dried and pasty-ish.. and over time becoming less and less effective... i noticed it when i pulled my nb1c of my dfi board.. and the paste was like latexey almost...

so just the normal compound ?

I would stick with AS-5,
I have never heard of it drying out, and I also use it for all thermal compound needs.

AS5 isnt supposed to "dryout". I have been using it since it came out and have never noticed anything of that sort. And as of now it has the best thermal transfer of any T.I.M.

well today.. while i was getting my dead arsey nexus fan controller i got one of those huge tubes of as5 .... so i took off this stock heat sink on the nf7-s ... and lemme tell u .. .if u plan to even run a nf7 ur gonna have to replace the stock cooler.. the thing is absolute garbage... it is like ... a spherical piece of aluminum.. totally flat.. and around the edges.. the are bent upwards... ... just to hold the fan... so... im sure u guys kno wut i mean.. but jeeze u would think to see that on like a via266 chipset board or something...

so yeah.. ima take pics of this compu. in a few weeks.. been meaning to ever since i got the new mobo.. but wanted to wait to put the nb cooler on and.. ima wait till i get a new nexus fan controller

I use standard thermal paste, the white stuff.

same temp on everything then the Arctic Silver stuff.

You just need to know how to apply it, very very thin layer.

Not really.

No real difference.

Just as long as you don't use the thermal pads on some heatsinks you will be good.

that is very very interesting... so.. this 10 dollar for 3.5grams and 20 dollars for 10grams of as5 is i scam.. i g2 try that eh... im very interested in the outcome

I never said it was a scam.

For normal use, there is no need for arctic silver for a stock computer. Just as long as the layer is thin and consistant, it will do its job.

i never said u said it was a scam i was just thinking in my own head that it was a scam if it cools as effectively as the white thermal grease.. but if u are overclocking? how does it perform? also.. does the stuff last as long as far as staying effective goes?
