I'm not sure about that but I have a similar question so I won't start a new thread. I have MPEG -4 and AAC audio files from iTunes and tried to burn them to an audio CD using nero but it won't let me because the "media type is unrecognizable". Is there a way to convert them from those to mpeg 3 (mp3)?

yes... using iTunes... select the file or files... right click them and select "convert selection to mp3" ... also... u can just burn the disc within itunes with out having to change file format... ... and also going into preferences which is " control + comma" u can set the way u import files... set it to mp3 if u plan to import much.. u can also disable "copy files to my itunes library" if u dont want to have duplicates every where....

He hasn't responded...don't know.
When I right click on the song in iTunes, it gives me the option to convert to AAC, but not mp3. THis is only, of course, with songs I have imported or purchased from iMusic. When I right click on the actual file though, it shows that the file is an MPEG 4 file.. Is there a way I can convert to mp3 unless.....is mp3 actually AAC format?

aac is a format of its own... lemme see...okay i know why

open iTunes... click the edit tab>>>> click properties>>> in properties... click the importing tab>>>> the first box says "import using" change that to mp3 format....

now when u right click a file it will display mp3 rather that aac conversion

I have another question:
I have mp3s that don't have album names and have numbers in the title and in iTunes they show up at the bottom of the list. Also when I load them onto the iPod, they are all out of order. My question is if I change the name in iTunes and add an album or change the genre, do the properties in the song file itself get changed, even if the file is not in the iTunes folder? Is there an option I can change to make the song properties change with the modifications in iTunes?

uhm as far as i know.. changing the name within itunes will only change it within the library standards lemme chek somthing... i believe that if u change the name by.. right clicking >> get info>> info tab>>> and adjust as necessary... it will export to your ipod correctly...

try going into >> edit>> preferences >>> ipod>> to look for different settings

see i dont have an ipod so i cant really tell you.. but i would assume that if u changed names etc within itunes then you should be able to export with the same names.. blalahb albhah

I have another questions about iTunes and iPod....
I only use one computer to export songs to the ipod. I want to use my laptop now. when I connect my ipod to the laptop via firewire though, nothing happens. It doesn't even recognize it. Should my ipod show up in itunes? All the installation cd has on it is itunes right, or do I have to run it.? And assuming i get this working, will I be able to transfer the songs from the ipod to the laptop so I can have the mp3s on both comps?
thanks

uhm ... welll.. assuming u installed iTunes with all the bells and whistles ...(no way around those) there should be a iPod service running now... if not... you should start it... also... chek in network devices and device manager... to make sure that the firewire and iPod are being detected... esp. to make sure firewire is fully functional....
becuz iTunes should always detect ur iPod... same with windows....

as for the transferring muzik back to a computer... it is possible.. there are a few programs around... try to google it... however this is "frowned upon" .... but as long as u own the cd's ur fine

So I started the iPod service becase I forgot I disabled it a while back...and still no go. Do I have to install anything or should it just work when I plug it in.
Also, where is network devices? do you mean 1394EE or something.? it looks like my firewire is enabled, so what gives?

u chek device manager to see if even that detected it?

if now.. i would suggest installing new drivers for the firewire.. and possibly reinstalling itunes and all of its other parts... uhm

and in like itunes preferences ... it says that there is no iPod detected??

I didn't see it in device manager..it was not detected for sure. I'll try enabling firewire in the bios.
